Playa Esterillos is situated in the beautiful province of Puntarenas in Costa Rica. Lake Arenal is Costa Rica’s largest lake and the name is frequently used to refer to the region located around Arenal volcano. One of the world’s ten most active volcanoes, Arenal is reported to erupt nearly every half hour or 41 times per day. It is spectacular to watch and attracts several thousand people each year, including science enthusiasts.
Book a tour and walk through the National Park to see the flowing lava. Some packages include a hot springs trip as well as dinner or each activity can be booked separately.
About the hot springs: There are four different hot springs in the area — the Baldi hot springs; Ecothermales Hot Springs, which limits guests to 100 and has modern changing rooms; Tabacon Hot Springs which has a water slide and artificial waterfalls; and Tabaconcito Hot Springs which is free to enter but has no lights. If you plan to visit during the night it is wise to bring a flashlight. Another tip – some people might prefer the hot springs in the evening when the weather cools down.
Another fun way to spend time in the area is to hike (or ride a horse) to the Fortuna Waterfall. Don’t forget to bring your swimsuit as the water is very refreshing. If you hike – be prepared for lots of stairs!

Dominical is a vacationers paradise. The best features about Domincal is the amazing beach and the ocean. Several thousand people a year flock to Dominical to take on the massive waves found at Dominical. Surfing is probably the most popular water sport at Dominical and they provide quite a challenge for all skill levels. If you have never surfed before it is recommended that you take some surfing lessons at least for these types of waves as it can be a bit dangerous if you land awkward.

Jaco is nestled in the province of Puntarenas along the Pacific Coast Costa Rica. If you want to access Jaco the closest airport is from San Jose which is about 80 miles away. The drive takes just a bit more then two hours but you could also take a bus. A bus is pretty cheap costing only $2.00 each direction and leaves from the Coca Cola station in San Jose.
Jaco itself is considered a small town but there are many activities that you can enjoy such as surfing and wake boarding. In fact it is fairly inexpensive to go wakeboarding or surfing since most board shops only charge $6.00 – $20.00 to rent a board for the entire day. You can enjoy suntanning and swimming but sometimes there are massive waves and riptides that you occasionally need to be prepared for so if you see locals suntanning further back you know why.
After you have enjoyed a long day surfing or relaxing on the beach you may want to visit La Central dance club which is one of the more popular night clubs in Jaco.
